Pro Starlink Installers recently received a service request for a professional Starlink installation near Baton Rouge, LA.
Immediately, our Starlink Installation SME’s (subject matter experts) began working with the customer to educate and conduct the:
INITIAL OFFSITE ASSESSMENT:
After our initial phone consults, email exchanges, conducting research and assessing the requirements for a successful Starlink installation, it was determined that this commercial business Starlink installation near Baton Rouge would require an onsite Starlink Installation Site Survey.
This was predominantly due to the building structure (height over 22′) combined with no internal rooftop access available and no easy outdoor rooftop access, meaning a lift may be required.
STARLINK INSTALLALTION SITE SURVEY (onsite):
The customer already had the Starlink installation kit and the Standard Wall Mount (same as the Short Wall Mount) in their possession which they puro;/chased directly through Starlink.com. The problem we found during the Site Survey was that to install the mount on the wall (not on or near rooftop), a Long Wall Mount would be required to install the Starlink dish without obstructions. We recommended the Long Wall Mount, which our client purchased one that we found through AMZN Prime.
This screenshot was taken from the installation point we identified when running the Starlink App’s Obstruction Tests during the Site Survey.
Starlink App, Obstructions Test Results: Good Experience!
The two solutions offered to the customer:
- To Rent a Lift, which is an expensive option ($500~$1,000 or more per day) – that would reach the top corner area of the building, allowing us the Standard Wall Mount they had in their possession…or
- Purchase a Long Wall Mount that costs around $75-$125 and have it mounted lower on the building where we could get a very clear Obstructions test result (seen above).
- Masonry Cable Routing Kit is also needed for the outdoor/indoor cable pass-through

As mentioned above, the customer opted for the Long Wall Mount option.
Pro Starlink Installers assisted our customer with ordering the Long Wall Mount and the Masonry Cable Routing Kit. Then, once shipped, a customer shared track, and we scheduled our Starlink installers accordingly.

SOW (scope of work) Summary:
- Upon arrival, our Starlink installers verified the customer’s onsite Starlink equipment, took inventory, and documented everything with photos.
- Secured the designated installation point for the dish, ensuring an unobstructed location outside the building (Starlink App Obstructions Test – ran again to confirm install point)
- Mounted the Long Wall Mount and routed the 50′ Starlink cable through the mount to the dish.
- Installed the Starlink antenna, as shown in the photo below.
- Routed the proprietary Starlink cable from the dish to the indoor Starlink Wi-Fi Mesh Router location, installed grommets, and sealed (using silicone sealant/fire caulk) the outdoor/indoor pass-through.
- Connected the Starlink cable to the Wi-Fi Mesh Router and power adapter.
- Configured the Starlink router with the customer’s preferred network name (SSID) and password via the Starlink App.
- Confirmed with the customer: Starlink Aligned on the Starlink App
- Instructed the customer on accessing the network and using the Starlink App, including how to reset the system, refresh the handshake with the network, adjust Snow Melt and other options.
- Conducted and documented a speed test.
- Documented the installation with photos, screenshots and completed close-out notes.
